Travel Advisory

Updated: July 21, 2021 at 7:00 AM PST

We are truly excited to return to the rivers this summer and welcome our guests who have been waiting so long to travel again! As our sailings proceed, we are continually reviewing the updates from global health authorities, local governments and airlines with regards to the entry requirements.

IMPORTANT UPDATE REGARDING VACCINATIONS: Covid-related protocols and country entry regulations continue to evolve. Recent changes in certain European countries now mandate up to a 10-day quarantine period for unvaccinated travellers upon entry. Many countries have also implemented procedures that strongly encourage travellers to be vaccinated and, in some cases, restrict access to certain venues unless they are vaccinated or can provide a negative test result valid for 24 hrs. As a result, effective immediately, AmaWaterways will only be welcoming fully vaccinated guests on board its ships. Guests affected by this decision should contact their travel agent for options to reschedule their river cruise.

Guests must be fully vaccinated at least 14 days (in the case of Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca or 28 days for Johnson & Johnson) prior to their sailing date. We also recommend all guests, regardless of vaccination status, take a PCR test within 72 hours prior to departure and bring documentation of a negative result with them on their sailing, as a precautionary measure.

Regarding Recent Flooding in Europe

We are deeply saddened by flooding that has affected certain regions of Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands but we have not been directly impacted. Our regularly scheduled cruises on the Rhine and Danube rivers will only be restarting later this week and next. We are happy to report that blue skies and sunshine have returned to most areas in Northern Europe and water levels are subsiding. Currently, we do not anticipate major changes to our scheduled itineraries.

The list below outlines the first restart sailing date for each ship. These ships will continue sailing as scheduled for the remainder of the 2021 Season.

Future Cruise Credit

We want to assure our guests that we have protected their long-awaited travel experience by automatically issuing a Future Cruise Credit equal to 115% of the value of the funds received for all purchased services through AmaWaterways (i.e. cruise, hotel/land, air, etc.), redeemable on any AmaWaterways river cruise in Europe, Asia, or Africa (including Egypt) embarking through December 31, 2023. For added flexibility, we have also made these Future Cruise Credits transferrable at any time prior to December 31, 2023 with the original owner’s written authorization.

Trust and Confidence

Family owned and operated, AmaWaterways was built on the foundation of a conservative growth plan, which our co-founders - Rudi Schreiner, Kristin Karst and Jimmy Murphy - knew would ensure the company’s strength in the face of any future challenges. Backed by sophisticated private equity investors including Certares, the leading specialist investment firm in the travel industry, AmaWaterways is virtually debt-free and in a secure financial position with ships and teams ready to resume sailing as soon as it is safe to do so.

We are proud to be the only US-based river cruise company to have successfully completed a four-month European sailing season during 2020 with enhanced health and safety protocols. Guest feedback confirms we delivered an exceptional experience while protecting our guests and crew.

We understand the importance of peace of mind and flexibility as you begin planning your future river journey. Should you have any questions regarding 2021 travel arrangements, please do not hesitate to reach out to our Reservations Team.
